I just love my ButcherBox orders! And love ... love ... LOVE my air fryer. So when I saw that ButcherBox had chicken wings ... I just hadda ...
You can get whatever organic or free-range meats or fish they send you (for a little less). Or choose to pick-and-choose (for a little more) ... I do that now after getting cuts I'm not so keen on cooking.
Right now I've got sirloin steaks, filet mignon, and pork tenderloin in my freezer (and who wouldn't like all that). The wings were a lucky add-on (they don't have them all the time).
Another lucky thing ... I found this recipe from gimmedelicious.com. To tell you the truth I'd never considered crisping wings ... or anything else ... by coating them with BAKING POWDER?
I had no idea ... but I guess it's used a lot. When I researched it, I found that baking powder acts like a salt to draw moisture to the surface, where it can evaporate. The result ... extra-crispy chicken ... made even crispier in the air fryer.
What baking power to use? I've been using Rumford's since I began cooking. It's aluminum-free, non-GMO (it does have cornstarch for those that are sensitive), and Gluten Free. You can also make your own with baking soda and cream of tartar.
The recipe also gave you three ways to coat the wings once they're done ... I chose honey BBQ because it's a taste I love ... I also have some sugar-free BBQ sauce that I used to make them Paleo.
I loved the wings so much that I'm going to try the other two sauces below. SOOO great that I got three packs of wings in my last order. Eat them UP ... FOR REAL!
Love wings? These are ultra-easy, super-delicious, and extra-crispy from the air fryer. Coat them with one of 3 Paleo-friendly sauces for appetizers, tailgating, or a kid-pleasing dinner.
Remove tips of chicken wings and split at the joint. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with 1 Tablespoon baking powder and a dash of salt and pepper.
Preheat the air fryer at 375 degrees F for five minutes. Transfer wings to the air-fryer basket and cook for 25 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through (I actually turned over the wings with tongs). Increase the temperature to 420 degrees F or highest setting and bake for another 5 minutes or until the skin is crispy and brown.
Remove wings from the air fryer and immediately toss in wing sauce of choice.
Cook garlic in butter, then turn off the heat and pour into a large mixing bowl. Add the remaining ingredients along with the wings and toss.
Cook butter with garlic for 2 minutes. Turn off heat and pour into a large bowl. Add hot sauce and salt. Stir in wings.
Simmer all ingredients in a small pot or pan. Transfer to a bowl and toss in wings.
Serve with a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing and celery and carrot sticks.
If you don't have a large air fryer, you may have to cook the wings in batches.
