Truth be told ... I'm an essential oils nut! I discovered my passion by reading Eric Zielinski's book, "The Healing Power of Essential Oils". This Fab 'N Fast Beauty Lavender Toner is my version of his "Basic Spritzer Formula".
I do believe that essential oils ARE essential to our daily lives because of their anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antibiotic, anti-viral and even wound healing capacities. I use them in many of my gut-healing protocols.
And ... as in this recipe ... in my DIY Beauty preparations. This is the last of my "Beauty Triad" including my Rose-Hip Moisturizer ... which I use AFTER the toner in the morning ... and the Green Tea Mask ... which I brush on at night after cleansing my face with DIY cold cream and foamy soap (with Dr. Bronner's soap and essential oils)
I get my essential oils either at Bulk Apothecary or Plant Therapy. As both are fairly low-cost and have quality products (although you have to pay postage ... Amazon has spoiled me!).
The first has a limited selection of oils and I also get my raw ingredients like shea butter, beeswax, the alcohol used in this recipe, and carrier oils (stuff to mix the essential oils with) there. The second has a wide selection (buy certified organic at both) of oils.
I steer clear of MLM companies like doTERRA as they're either very pricey or you have to enroll in their programs. And the quality at my two online sites are similar for a lot less!
There's LOTS of recipes in the book ... but I prefer my easy soap one of getting a foamy soap container on Amazon, filling it about a quarter full of Dr. Bronner's soap, topping it off with filtered water, and adding about 20 drops of essential oils of your choice instead.
For the face, I never use oils that may burn my skin, like cinnamon, cloves, and the mints ... but they're GREAT for oral care. Instead, I use primarily lavender (calming), tree tree (antiseptic) and either/or citrus (lemon, orange, grapefruit), frankincense, and ylang ylang.
But read the book and decide for yourself. The toner is Fab 'N Fast as there are only three major ingredients (four with the water) and you can make it ... after you gather everything (I'd suggest pipettes for accurate drops ... you can get them and the alcohol [DON'T use the pharmacy kind] at Bulk Apothecary) in about two minutes.
This totally wakes my face up in the morning ... I spritz it on and almost see my skin smile!
Wake up and tighten your face with this this Fab 'N Fast Beauty Lavender Toner that's made with only three ingredients in two short minutes!
Mix the grain alcohol, essential oils, and witch hazel in the bottle. Add distilled water and shake vigorously.
This will go fast if you use it morning and night like I do. But it can have bacterial overgrowth (and smell bad) like all water-based products. That's why I add the tea tree ... but I make two ounces at a time and have never noticed this.
